Spicy Garbanzo Beans with Caramelized Onions
Easy to make, delicious side
Ingredients:
2 tbsp unsalted butter; 1 cup finely chopped onions; 1 tsp coriander; ½ tsp cumin; 1/8 tsp turmeric; 1/8 tsp red pepper; 15 oz. white garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained; ½ tsp salt; ½ tsp black pepper coarsely ground; 1 tbsp water; 1-2 tsp fresh lemon juice;
Instructions:
• Melt butter in a large frypan over medium heat. Add onions and slowly cook them until they are light brown.
• Add coriander, cumin, turmeric and red pepper and cook until the flavors of the spices have developed.
• Add drained garbanzo beans, salt, black pepper and a tbsp of water. Stir and cook continuously until the beans are thoroughly coated and heated.
• Sprinkle with fresh lemon juice before serving.
